Online poker room Bodog Poker has updated their software and a lot of players are responding, “It’s about time!” The update may seem insignificant to players who do not spend a lot of time online, but for the online grinders and rounders it is a big deal. The update will allow players at Bodog Poker to resize the window that holds their game table. This will, in turn, allow for more games to fit on a computer screen - an important thing if you are a multi game player… Last year was the first World Series of Poker Europe, with events spread out over three London casinos. This year all the events will be held in one of those casinos, the Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square. Lots of big name players will appear at the tables this year, including Phil Hellmuth, who showed up last year with a bevy of English beauties as an entourage… When Pacific Poker and 888.com announced their gaming revenues, the numbers showed a drop in the three months to June 30, and football is to blame. 888.com representatives have pointed to the Euro 2008 football tournament as the culprit, saying that online poker players stopped playing during the run of the tournament to watch it on the television. Poker revenues were down an average of $116 per player… When the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) went into effect in 2006 it upset the online poker community, but it did not expressly label online poker as illegal. A new bill, HR 6663, called Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Clarification and Implementation Act (UIGECIA), which was described as a positive element as it would clarify the UIGEA, is upsetting poker players and the Poker Players Alliance. It turns out that the UIGECIA wants to specify sports betting online as illegal, and by doing so implicate online poker as illegal. The money was gathered up and passed on to Macau Caritas, while players vied for a seat to the second season Asia Pacific Poker Tournament to be held in Macau… Card Player Magazine has conducted research using a global poker tourney tracking system to determine what place has the most successful poker players in the world. The system, the “World Tracker”, found that Denmark is the top spot, with 1.85 medals per million people.
